Lineage and history
Northern Lights traces to a Seattle-area seed grower in the 1970s, then was carried to the Netherlands and stabilized by Sensi Seeds (Neville Schoenmakers, ~1985). The strain became one of the first indicas to dominate the Cannabis Cup era, sweeping multiple awards in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Most modern Northern Lights flowers are descended from NL #5 - the pheno selected for resin production and short flowering window. Parent lines: predominantly Afghani indica with a small Thai sativa influence in early generations, later bred out to a near-pure indica genotype.

Effect arc
Onset 5–10 minutes from inhalation. Body-heavy relaxation begins in the limbs and shoulders; head effects are mild and often described as "sleepy euphoria." Peak at 30–45 minutes; tail at 90–120 minutes. NL is a textbook "couch-lock indica" at higher doses - start with one inhalation if you have anything left to do that day.
