Q&A

How long does cannabis flower stay fresh?

Properly stored cannabis flower stays fresh 6–12 months. After 6 months, terpenes begin to oxidize and THC slowly converts to CBN (more sedating). After 18+ months, flower is still safe to consume but loses potency, flavor, and produces harsher smoke. Improperly stored flower (heat, light, dry air) can degrade in 1–2 weeks.

02
Q&A

What's the ideal humidity for storing cannabis?

59–63% relative humidity (RH) preserves trichomes, terpenes, and burn quality. Use Boveda 62% or Integra Boost 62% humidity packs - drop one pack into a glass jar with your cannabis. Below 55% RH the flower dries, becomes harsh, and trichomes shatter. Above 65% RH mold and mildew can develop within days - never store wet cannabis.

Q&A

Are mason jars or vacuum sealers better?

Glass mason jars with humidity packs are the gold standard for daily storage (1–6 months). Vacuum-sealed jars or vacuum bags are better for long-term storage (6+ months) by removing oxygen - but humidity must be set before sealing (use a hygrometer). Avoid clear jars in lit areas - UV light degrades cannabinoids. Amber/dark glass or storage in a dark cabinet is best.

Q&A

Can I store cannabis in the fridge or freezer?

No for daily use. Refrigerator condensation cycles damage trichomes; freezer cold shatters fragile trichome heads. Yes for long-term archival (1+ year) of vacuum-sealed flower or solventless concentrates kept frozen continuously - bring to room temperature before opening to avoid condensation. Day-to-day, room-temperature dark storage in a glass jar with a 62% pack is best.

05
Q&A

How do I childproof cannabis at home?

NV NRS 678D requires child-resistant packaging at point of sale. At home: store cannabis in a lockbox (combination or key) or high cabinet inaccessible to children and pets. Edibles especially need locked storage - 5 mg gummies and chocolates can be confused with candy and have caused pediatric ER visits. ASPCA Animal Poison Control: 888-426-4435. See cannabis and pets warning.

06
Q&A

How should I store edibles, vapes, and concentrates?

Edibles: original child-resistant packaging, cool dark place, follow expiration on package (typically 6–12 months). Refrigerate chocolates if home is hot. Vapes: upright in cool dark place, do not refrigerate. Concentrates: silicone or glass containers (not parchment long-term), cool dark place. Live resin/live rosin: refrigeration acceptable for terpene preservation - bring to room temp before opening.

07
Q&A

Can I take cannabis on a road trip in Nevada?

Within NV: yes - sealed original packaging, transport in trunk (not passenger compartment), driver cannot consume, passengers cannot consume in a moving vehicle (NRS 484B.150). Crossing state lines is a federal crime under the Controlled Substances Act regardless of destination state laws - including NV-CA at Verdi/Cold Springs/Crystal Bay, and NV-AZ/NV-OR/NV-UT/NV-ID borders. See NV cannabis laws.

08
Q&A

Can I bring cannabis on a Nevada hotel stay?

Most NV hotels and casinos prohibit cannabis on premises under guest agreements regardless of NV legalization. Reno-Sparks corridor properties (Atlantis, Peppermill, Grand Sierra Resort, the Row, Nugget) enforce this through housekeeping inspection and security policy. Some boutique cannabis-friendly properties exist - verify with the property before booking. See dispensary near Reno hotels.

09
Q&A

What about storing cannabis at high altitude or in a hot car?

Heat is cannabis's worst enemy. A car interior in NV summer can exceed 140°F, which decarboxylates THC, evaporates terpenes, and melts edibles/concentrates. Never leave cannabis in a parked car. High altitude (Tahoe, Mt. Rose, Verdi at 7,000 ft) accelerates oxidation slightly - use airtight glass with humidity packs. Refrigerate after exposure to heat.
