Lineage and history
Jack Herer was bred by Sensi Seeds in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in the early 1990s. The cross is Haze × (Northern Lights #5 × Shiva Skunk) - combining the energetic Haze sativa with the resin production of NL #5 and the structural sturdiness of Shiva Skunk. The strain was named after the activist Jack Herer (1939–2010) with his permission, and it became a Dutch coffeeshop staple through the late 1990s. The Dutch government even commissioned Sensi to produce the cultivar for medical pharmacy distribution under the trade name "Bedrocan."
