Why customers from the Prater Way corridor are switching to Greenleaf

Why customers from the Prater Way corridor are switching to Greenleaf

In late 2025 and early 2026 the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board (NV CCB) acted against several Sparks-area smoke shops - including the Higher Elevation storefront on the Prater Way corridor - for selling intoxicating-hemp products outside the regulated retail system. The Nevada SB 356 (2025) enforcement removed THCA flower, Δ8 carts, and most "hemp" intoxicating products from those shelves. Customers who had been buying from those shops are now sourcing from licensed dispensaries.

The reason is regulatory. Nevada adopted a Total THC standard at the state level - Total THC = Δ9-THC + (THCA × 0.877) - which closes the federal 2018 Farm Bill 0.3% Δ9-THC dry-weight loophole that smoke-shop hemp relied on. Most "hemp flower" sold in those shops was high-THCA flower that fell well within the federal-loophole letter but failed the Nevada Total THC math the moment a buyer applied flame and decarboxylated the THCA into Δ9-THC. The full chemistry is on our hemp vs cannabis master hub and the NV CCB Total THC standard page.

A licensed dispensary is the legal alternative because every Greenleaf product is grown or manufactured by a Nevada-licensed producer, tracked seed-to-sale in METRC, and lab-tested by an ISO 17025 accredited lab for cannabinoid potency, pesticides, heavy metals, microbial contamination, residual solvents, and water activity. See lab-tested licensed vs hemp products for the full panel.

What Greenleaf carries that the Prater Way shops cannot

Greenleaf carries the licensed-retail equivalents of every product category the Prater Way smoke shops used to stock - but with full lab panels, dose control, child-resistant packaging, and METRC tracking. For a side-by-side translation see from smoke shop to licensed retail buyer's guide, which maps THCA flower → Δ9 flower, Δ8 cart → Δ9 cart, HHC vape → Δ9 vape, and "hemp" gummies → dose-controlled Δ9 edibles.

Hours, parking, and what to bring

Open 8:00 AM to 10 PM (last sale 9:55 PM) every day. Parking is free in our lot - accessible spaces nearest the door. From the Prater Way side, the fastest approach is to come south on McCarran or Pyramid then turn left (east) on Glendale; we are on the right just past the McCarran intersection. Bring a government-issued photo ID - NV driver's license, state ID, U.S. passport, U.S. military ID, or tribal ID. Out-of-state IDs are accepted; expired IDs are not.

Smoke shops along Prater Way that are no longer selling flower

The most frequently cited Prater Way smoke shop in customer conversations is Higher Elevation, which historically stocked THCA flower, Δ8 vape carts, and "hemp" edibles. Following NV CCB enforcement, those product categories were pulled. Higher Elevation continues to operate as a tobacco / vape / glass / accessory retailer under its existing tobacco license but does not sell intoxicating cannabinoids. Customers who want flower, pre-rolls, carts, or edibles need a licensed dispensary, and Greenleaf is the closest one to the Prater Way corridor.

We are not naming or disparaging Higher Elevation or any other Prater Way retailer. Their tobacco/vape business is legitimate and they followed Nevada's enforcement pathway. The point of this page is to help displaced customers find a legal source.
